Abstract

Objective To study the structure and tribological properties of the FeCrNi / Ni coated diamond composite coating by high-velocity arc sprayed. Methods FeCrNi / Ni coated diamond composite coating was prepared on 45#steel substrates by high-velocity arc sprayed. MMW-1A wear-test machine was used to analyze the tribological properties of the composite coating. Morphology, composition and cross-section microstructure of the coatings were analyzed by the means of scanning electron microscopy ( SEM) , and energy dispersive spectrometry ( EDS) . The microhardness and porosity of coatings were also tested. Results This research indicated that the FeCrNi / Ni coated diamond composite coatings had typical layer structure characteristics and lower porosity. With the increase of sliding time, the friction coefficient of the coatings first increased and then tended to be stable. Conclusion The coating had high microhardness and excellent wear resistance because of the addition of ultrohard diamond.
