Abstract

Cathodic disbonding is one of the main forms of organic coating failure during service. The research progress in the influencing factors of resistance against cathodic disbonding of organic coatings in the seawater, fresh water and soil were summarized. The cathodic disbonding process of organic coating and the influencing factors of coating resistance against cathodic disbonding including resins, pigments and fillers, additives and surface treatment, coating thickness and defect were introduced. The questions remaining to be resolved in future were presented and the trend of future development was discussed.
