Abstract

Self-assembled monolayers ( SAMs) of Lauric Acid ( LA) were prepared on the surfaces of 430 stainless steel (430 SS) by immersing method in the assembly solutions. The adsorption behavior and corrosion inhibition performance of LA SAMs were investigated by electrochemical tests, contact angle measurement and microscopic morphology analysis. The results indicated that LA SAMs was chemically absorded on 430 SS via a simply immersion progress. The assembly time of 4 h, LA concentration of 5 mmol / L,assembly temperature of 35 ℃ were the optimal parameters for assembling. Passivation pretreatment was beneficial for forming a denser SAMs on the surface of 430 SS and improving the corrodion resistance of 430 SS.
