Abstract

The TiC enhanced Fe base composite coating was prepared by in situ synthesis on the surface of Q235 steel by means of argon arc cladding technique with the pre-alloyed powder of Ti,C and Fe. The microstructure and phases of coating were analyzed, mean while the hardness of coating was determined. The results show that the interface between the coating and substrate has excellent bonding and is free of pores and cracks; The microstructure is composed of dendrite and equiaxed crystal. TiC particle mainly distributes in the grains and grain boundaries; The hardness of the coatings increases with the increase of TiC content.
