Abstract

Amorphous carbon films possess excellent tribological properties and corrosion resistance. However, the films are easy to peel off the substrates partially during the sliding process under water-lubricated conditions. The current research on this issue is focused on improving the load-carrying capability of the films. The tribological properties and the progress in enhancing adhesion of the films, as well as the effect of surfacet exturing on the load carrying capability of materials were expounded. The future prospect of combining the coating and surface-texturing technologies to improving the tribology behavior of the films was discussed.
