Abstract

The effect of different surfactants, such as cationic surfactant cetyl trimethylammonium bromide(CTAB), anionic surfactant neopelex(LAS) and non-ionic surfactant polyethylene glycol(PEG6000), on the stability of zinc immersion solution, morphology and corrosion resistance of zinc coating on AZ91D magnesium alloy was studied. The results show that the surfactants can evidently improve the stability of zinc immersion solution; The species of surfactants have an important effect on the morphology and corrosion resistance of zinc coating. After adding anionic surfactant, the zinc coating has excellent corrosion resistance due to its fine compact morphology.
