Abstract

Cutting lubrication is a necessary requirement to realize high speed or precision cutting machining. However, the contradiction between traditional cutting lubrication technology and green manufacturing requirement is becoming more and more serious, while particulate flow lubrication is a promising green cutting lubrication technology.Firstly, the deficiencies of common flood cutting lubrication and the characteristics of other green cutting lubrication technologies, for example dry cutting, minimum quantity lubrication and cold air cooling, were presented. And the characteristics of particulate flow lubrication are shown too. Secondly, the supplyment methods of particulate lubricants during particulate flow cutting lubrication were discussed, including powder filling or smearing type, powder covering type, powder delivery type, powder spray type, etc. The process effect and parameter optimization of particulate flow cutting lubrication were reviewed based on four machining processes:turning, milling, grinding and drilling. The basic mechanism of particulate flow cutting lubrication was summarized from two aspects that include the interfacial action mechanism of particulate media and the physical properties of particulate fluid lubricant. On this basis, the superiorities and existing problems of particulate flow cutting lubrication technology were put forward. Finally, based on the requirement of practical application, the development of particle flow cutting lubrication technology was prospected. This work will provide a theoretical and technological reference for the maturation and popularization of this technology.
