Abstract

The work aims to prepare a superhydrophobic coating composed of epoxy resin and silica nanoparticles in order to obtain the anti-icing property of concrete surface and overcome the difficulty of concrete surface deicing. The epoxy resin was mixed with anhydrous ethanol to get the coating bottom layer, nano silica was mixed with anhydrous ethanol to get the coating surface layer, and the coating bottom layer and surface layer were sprayed on the concrete surface respectively to make the concrete surface obtain superhydrophobic property. The characteristics of water droplet falling easily on the surface of superhydrophobic coating were used to reduce the amount of ice on the surface of concrete at low temperature. At the same time, due to the superhydrophobic coating on the concrete surface, there was a layer of air film between the concrete surface and the icing contact surface, which greatly reduced the adhesion between the icing surface and the concrete contact surface, and achieved the purpose of easy deicing. The results showed that the prepared superhydrophobic coating had good superhydrophobicity, the contact angle of static water was 152°±1.9°, and the rolling angle was about 4°±1.2°. Superhydrophobicity could still be maintained when frozen at –20 ℃ for 2 h. At the same time, the seepage rate of concrete could be greatly reduced. Compared with ordinary concrete, superhydrophobic coated concrete could significantly reduce the amount of ice on the concrete surface, the adhesion between ice and concrete surface is only 14% of that of ordinary concrete, so the ice was easier to remove. Superhydrophobic coating can improve the anti-icing performance of concrete surface, reduce the amount of ice on concrete surface, and decrease the adhesion between ice and concrete surface.
