Abstract

Compared to traditional crystalline metals, Fe-based metallic glass features unusual structure advantages with the unique long-range disordered structure and numerous free volume. And due to its low cost, high strength, good soft magnetic properties, wide super-cooled liquid region and other excellent physical and chemical properties, Fe-based metallic glass attracts the close attention of researchers, considered as the plasma facing materials in fusion devices. Thus, the research on its radiation resistance has been widely carried out. Cluster+glue atom model can guide the design of components of Fe-based metallic glass to obtain ones with higher glass forming ability and the metallic glass with larger negative enthalpy of mixing between the component atoms can improve the crystallization on set temperature, which provides a new idea for breaking the size limit and improving stability of metallic glass. In this paper, it describes briefly the basis for the selection of two components of Fe-based metallic glass researched by our group:Fe80B13Si7 and Fe68B25Zr7 from the perspective of cluster+glue atom model. According to the research status at home and abroad, the changes of structure, surface morphology, magnetic and optical properties of Fe-based metallic glass under the ion beam irradiation are expounded, the formation mechanisms of irradiation damages are studied and the reasons why Fe-based metallic glass has good irradiation resistance are analyzed. This paper provides data supports for the preparation of Fe-based metallic glass with larger size and better property of radiation resistance in the first mirror materials for fusion reactor.
