Abstract

The work aims to carry out laser micro texture processing on the surface of friction pairs to study the anti-friction effect of micro texture in different distribution forms on friction pairs and then provide a reference for the design and selection of micro texture friction pairs in practical engineering applications. In order to explore the friction reduction effect of different micro textures on friction surface, 45# steel was selected as friction material to prepare the ring to ring contact friction pair. The micro texture of a certain size was processed on the surface of the specimen by laser micro-carving. The friction experiment was carried out by the universal friction and wear tester under the condition of oil lubrication, and the worn surface was observed by three dimensional microscope to study the anti-friction mechanism and specific influence laws of different micro textures under lubrication mode. Experimental results showed that the contact surface of the friction pair with the rational distribution of micro texture could produce obvious dynamic lubrication effect. The friction coefficient of radial groove micro texture and pits micro texture was obviously smaller than that of smooth surface at stable wear stage. The friction coefficient could be respectively re-duced by 16% and 11%. The friction coefficient of the local reticulation micro texture was not significantly different from that of the smooth surface and the friction coefficient of the circumferential groove texture was larger than that of the smooth surface. The friction pairs with the radial grooves and the concave micro texture had a lower temperature rise compared with the smooth surface, while the temperature rise of the circumferential grooves and the local reticular micro texture were more obvious with the increase of the friction surface wear. The friction coefficient of the frictional pair with micro texture distributed on the lower part of the specimen was significantly less than that of the friction pairs with micro texture on the upper part. The trace of abrasive particles on the surface of the pits micro texture surface was obviously lighter than that on the smooth specimen surface. Micro texture could effectively store wear debris and reduce damage of the second wear and tear on the friction surface. The surface micro texture can effectively improve the lubrication performance of the friction pair, the rational selection of the microtexture distribution and distribution position can maximize the effect of the microtexture reduction.
