Abstract

The work aims to improve the hydrophobic property and weather resistance of solvent-free epoxy coatings and enhance their application prospects in the marine environment. The solvent-free epoxy resin was modified with amino silicone oil, and then it was formulated into a solvent-free epoxy coating. The modified result was characterized by FTIR. The hardness, adhe-sion, flexibility, impact resistance, surface energy, heat resistance and corrosion resistance of the coating were respectively evaluated by pencil hardness test, circle adhesion test, flexibility test, impact resistance test, contact angle test, thermal weight loss test and EIS test. The cross-section morphology of the coating was observed by SEM. When the ratio of epoxy resin to amino silicone oil was 8∶2, the water contact angle of modified solvent-free epoxy coating increased from 78? to 108?, flexibility from 1 mm to 0.5 mm, the impact resistance height from 40 cm to 50 cm, low-frequency impedance from 108 ??cm2 to 109 ??cm2, and the decomposition temperature from 387 ℃ to 428 ℃ for 50% heat loss. However, the hardness decreased from 2H to H When the coating had obvious delamination, but the overall performance of the coating was better. When the mass ratio of the epoxy resin to the excessively added aminosilicone oil was 7∶3, the overall performance of the coating was significantly decreased. Therefore, the addition of appropriate amount of amino silicone oil can not only improve the impact resistance, hydrophobicity and heat resistance of solvent-free epoxy coatings, but also can provide a denser coating surface, thereby enhancing its barrier effect on corrosive media.
