The work aims to synthetize IMBT by triethylenetetramine and benzoic acid and then to prepare IMBTM by IMBT, H3PO3 and formaldehyde through Mannich reaction. The corrosion inhibition of carbon steel in HCl solution was investigated. Dynamic weight loss method, electrochemical technique and thermodynamic method were used to study corrosion property and adsorption rule of 10# carbon steel by corrosion inhibitors IMBT and IMBTM in 1 mol/L HCl at 60 ℃. The products were characterized by IR. In the spectrum, the product characteristic peaks appeared. In the dynamic weightlessness test, when the concentration of two kinds of corrosion inhibitors were 3 g/L, the corrosion rate of steel was respectively 3.92 g/(m2?h) and 2.94 g/(m2?h) and the corrosion inhibition rate of corrosion inhibitors was 79.65 % and 84.75 % respectively. From polarization curve test, the corrosion potential of two corrosion inhibitors was moving forward as concentration increased and the anode current density decreased obviously. From test of AC impedance, with the increase of concentration, the radius of the resistance of two kinds of corrosion inhibitors increased gradually. At the same concentration, IMBTM had a larger arc radius. With the increase of concentration the increase of Rct and the decrease of Cdl showed that the corrosion inhibitor replaced water and adsorbed into the film. Good linear relationship was found by studying an isothermal adsorption model and bringing data into Langmuir isothermal adsorption equation. IMBT and IMBTM have corrosion inhibition effects on 10# carbon steel in 1 mol/L HCl medium and the IMBTM has stronger inhibition effect. Both corrosion inhibitors are anode corrosion inhibitors and havehigh corrosion resistance to the anode. The adsorption of these two compounds on the surface of 10# carbon steel isspontaneous exothermic process and the adsorption rules are in accordance with the Langmuir isothermal adsorption which belongs tosingle molecular layer adsorption.
