Abstract

The work aims to study a coating material exhibiting low corrosion rate and having low corrosion rate by providing modification protection for 6061 aluminum alloy surface for heat exchange tube use. Five different Zinc-Aluminum coatings, namely, pure Zn, Zn50, Al95, pure Al, Al-RE coatings, were prepared on the 6061 aluminum alloy surface by adopting wire flame spraying technology. Morphology and composition of the coatings were analyzed with SEM, EDS and XRD, and Tafel curves of the coatings in 3.5% NaCl solution were measured. Provided with the same parameters, the coatings prepared on aluminum alloy surface exhibited good appearance quality and no obvious flaws, and met requirements of thermal spraying for coating quality. Corrosion potential of the Zn, Zn50, Al95, pure Al, Al-RE coatings was more negative than that of 6061 aluminum alloy, the 5 coatings had the effect of anodic protective layer on 6061 aluminum alloy. In terms of corrosion current and corrosion potential, Al95 and Al-RE have better effects as sacrificial anode protective coatings.
