Abstract

Icing on transmission line is severely threatening safe operation of power system, development and research of anti-icing techniques provides strong guarantee for normal operation of transmission line. Anti-icing coating could inhibit or relieve formation and development of icing on transmission line initiatively, superhydrophobic coating has wide application prospect as it can realize anti-icing by delaying drop freezing. The relationship among surface state, icing and ice-adhesion strength was discussed. It was pointed that there was obvious difference between icing state of superhydrophobic surface and that of common surfaces. The ice-adhesion strength of the superhydrophobic surface was also lower. The anti-icing function of the superhydrophobic coating is determined by factors including chemical composition, surface structure and environment, and constructing effective superhydrophobic surface in simple preparation process is crucial to popularizing and applying the superhydrophobic coating. Based on anti-icing mechanism analysis for superhydrophobic surface, it can be concluded that there is great potential for superhydrophobic coating, it is in urgent to adapt the coating to environmental factors including various temperature by controlling its structure.
