Abstract
The work aims to test the abrasion resistance of six common metallic materials for ornaments, and contrastively analyze the ornament material’s ability of maintaining surface glossiness. Six typical metallic materials for ornaments, i.e. H70 brass, 316L stainless steel, TA2 pure titanium, CoCrMo alloy, tungsten carbide and TaC system carbide were selected, their chemical composition, hardness and polarization behavior in artificial sweat were detected, abrasion weight loss rate of various ring samples was tested in the method of disc polishing in the artificial sweat, and abrasion morphology was observed by using SEM. Pitting potential of the test materials in artificial sweat sorted from high to low was as follows: TA2>CoCrMo>TaCsystem carbide>316L>tungsten carbide>H70, and initial hardness: H70<316LTA2>316L>CoCrMo>TaC system carbide>tungsten carbide. Provided with the working condition of disc polishing+artificial sweat, the samples will experience weight loss and glossiness reduction under the interaction effect of mechanical wear and corrosion. However, corrosive action on the other samples other than H70 is relatively weaker, while me-chanical wear action is stronger. Thus, the higher the material’s surface hardness is, the better the abrasion resistance is, and the more conductive to maintain surface glossiness of ornament surface will be.
