Influence of Curing Process on Performance of Eco-friendly Non-oriented Silicon Steel Insulating Coating

Abstract

The work aims to study curing and film-forming mechanism of eco-friendly non-oriented silicon steel insulating coating by exploring effects of different curing processes on performance of the coating. A novel silicon steel insulating coating solution was prepared and cured by using different curing processes. Corrosion resistance, electrochemical performance, insulating property and surface morphology of the coating were evaluated by neutral salt spray test, electrochemical test, coating insulation resistance measuring meter and scanning electron microscope, so as to explore effects of different processes on the non-oriented silicon steel insulating coating. Curing and film-forming mechanism of the coating was studied based on differential thermal analysis and infrared absorption spectrometry. The coating had uniform and dense surface provided with the best curing process (400 ℃, 20 s). After 5 hours of salt spray test, corrosion percentage was less than 10%, surface insulation resistance was up to 300 Ω?mm2, and electrochemical parameter of the coatings was the best. The morphology, electrochemical property, corrosion resistance and insulation performance of the eco-friendly coating are all the best at the moment, meeting users’ operating requirements. The study of curing process has certain theoretical guiding significance on industrial production of silicon steel coating.
