Tribological Properties of the Laser Micro-texture Surface Filled with Solid Lubricant at Elevated Temperature

Abstract

Objective To research the effect of micro texture nano lubricant and the addition of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) on micro texture composite lubricant at high temperature. Methods 4Cr4Mo4V high temperature bearing steel was textured by YLP-HP-1-100-100-100 laser and composite lubricant ofpolyimide (PI) and molybdenum disulfide (MoS2), and MoS2-PI-CNTs with different contents of CNTs were filled in the micro-dimples. Sliding friction performance of composite lubricant was investigated by the high temperature friction and wear testing machine MMU-10G using ring-plate area contact. Results The friction coefficient of nano MoS2-PI composite was lower compared to that of micron MoS2-PI composite lubricant. The friction coefficient of micro textured surface filled with the nano MoS2-PI composite lubricant decreased before increasing with the increase of the contents of the carbon nanotube. MoS2-PI-CNTs nano-composite solid lubricant had a higher operation temperature and lower friction coefficient after addition of 6wt% carbon nanotubes (CNTs). Conclusion The lubrication effect of nano MoS2 was better than that of micron MoS2, and CNTs were beneficial to improving the performance of heat resistance and lubrication antifriction.
