Abstract

Objective Corrosion in the oil well casing is the main form of casing failure, which severely restrict the operation and development of oil fields. Cathodic protection technology has been widely used in oil well casing corrosion protection systems, and the practice proved that the technology is currently the most widely used and most effective oil well casing corrosion protection technology. However, there is so far no related application of cathodic protection technology based on pulse current in oil well casing. Theoretical research and simulation experiments show that pulse current cathodic protection technology has a number of advantages such as more uniform distribution of current, lower total current demand, deeper protection depth, and lower energy consumption. In this paper, through the introduction of the history, research progress and application conditions of pulse current cathodic protection technology, the well casing cathodic protection technologies were reviewed; the influencing law of basic parameters of oil well casing pulse current cathodic protection was discussed , the protective effects of the technique were summarized, and the protective effect was discussed.
