Abstract

Objective To analyze the influences of process parameters on the force in vibratory barrel finishing, so as to provide certain guide for selection of process parameters in actual processing. Methods The influences of parameters such as eccentric block angle, buried depth of workpiece and the champing angle of workpiece on the force were analyzed by using dynamic pressure sensor. Results The movement forms and motion trails were significant different at different eccentric block angles, and the force of workpiece was influenced by the angle, the abrasive flow was remarkable when the eccentric block angle was 90°. The force of the workpiece increased with the buried depth, however, the force abruptly increased when the depth exceeded a certain range. During changing of the champed angle of workpiece, the abrasive flow and the force were observed and the test data showed that abrasive gathered together centered on the workpiece when α = 20°, and the force of workpiece reached the maximum. Conclusion In con- clusion, the abrasive flow and the force of workpiece were different at different eccentric block angles, the effect of finishing was the best at the eccentric block angle α0 = 90°. The influence of buried depth on the force was significant, the buried depth should be chosen according to the processing requirements. The abrasive flow was varied at different champing angles α of the fixed workpiece and the force was the maximum when α = 20°, the α should be determined based on the processing demand.
