Abstract:
The purpose is to investigate the effects of polystyrene (PS) scraping rate, sol pulling rate, catalyst and aging on surface roughness, transmittance and influencing rule of contact angle of hydrophobic film. Glass/polystyrene/silica (Glass/PS/ SiO2) films were prepared on glass substrates by the technique of wire wound bar scraping and dip-coating. The transparent hydrophobic film was obtained by coating fluorosilane (FAS) on the surface after heat treatment to remove the PS. An optical profilometer and field emission scanning electron microscope were used to detect PS scraping effect, surface roughness and microfilm morphology. The visible-near infrared optical transmittance of the sample was measured by spectrophotometer. The static water contact angle of hydrophobic film was obtained by using contact angle tester. The results showed that when the scraping rate of wire rod was 2 cm/s, and the alkali catalyzed SiO2 sol was used with the pulling rate increasing from 60 mm/min to 180 mm/min, the surface roughness of the film reduced in order. At 150 mm/min, the corresponding surface roughness was 0.0251 μm, and the water contact angle of the sample was 139°. When the PS scraping coating rate was 3 cm/s, the hydrophobic film with contact angle of 150.5° and average transmittance of 88.3% in wavelength range of 380 nm to 1100 nm can be prepared by using acid catalyzed sol with a short aging time. The conclusion shows that surface rough structure is affected by the PS scraping rate, the pulling rate of the SiO2 sol, and its properties. The SiO2 hydrophobic porous film of honeycomb-like structure can be obtained by coating the PS template layer with acid-catalyzed low viscosity SiO2 sol followed by heat treatment and surface modification.
