Abstract:
The work aims to propose a simple method to determine the impressed current magnitude and position of auxiliary anode. The position of the anode was discretely processed at first. Then, the script program in Matlab was used to control the operation of the finite element software for calculating the optimal anode layout and corresponding minimum input current (COMSOL). The optimal anode layout and the corresponding input current were finally achieved by alternatively adjusting the current magnitude and anode position after search. This scheme was used for finite element calculation. The whole surface of the hull could be protected and the protection rate was 100%. The corresponding current required for each anode was only 0.057 26 A, and the highest protection potential was about ~0.84 V. The over-protection phenomenon was negligible. The problems encoun-tered in the design of impressed current cathodic protection have been solved by the method proposed above, which has the ad-vantages of simplicity, easy operation and universality.
