Abstract: |
The work aims to study effects of load and friction frequency on friction and wear properties of Al-Mg2Si composite coating. Friction coefficient of Al-Mg2Si composite coating under different load and friction frequency was investigated with high-speed reciprocating friction and wear tester. Surface morphology, depth and volume of grinding crack were analyzed with SEM and ultra-depth three-dimensional microscope. The effects of load and friction frequency were comparatively analyzed. Under a constant load, as friction frequency increased, friction coefficient tended to decrease while volume wear rate tended to increase. At the frequency of 3 Hz, the friction coefficient was the minimum (0.50), and the volume wear rate was the maximum (166.08×10-4 mm3/(N∙mm)). As the frequency increased from 1 Hz to 3 Hz, the friction coefficient decreased by 0.65, and the abrasion wear rate increased by 3.1 times. At a constant frequency, both the friction coefficient and volume wear rate tended to increase as the load increased. Under the load of 15 N, both friction coefficient and volume wear rate were the maximum (0.93, 126.27×10-4 mm3/(N∙mm), respectively). As the load increased from 5 N to 15 N, the friction coefficient increased by 0.27, and the volume wear rate by 0.4 times. Compared with load, friction frequency has greater effect on friction properties of Al-Mg2Si composite coating. |
