Abstract:
Carbon fibers without any modification can be hardly applied as electrochemical electrode due to chemistry inertia and the lack of active functional groups. Up to now, a variety of measures have been taken to modify carbon fibers. Carbon fibers were treated by the electrochemistry oxidation in phosphoric acid solution. Infrared spectrometry and cyclic voltage-ampere analysis were made. The results show that the surface of carbon fibers is modified by fixing active carbon atoms and functional groups. The electrochemical properties of carbon fiber in mixed solutions K4Fe ( CN) 6 +KCl,FeS04 +HCl04 have been improved remarkably. The oxidized carbon fibers are found to be fine electrodes for electrochemical analysis.
