Abstract:
As a newly developing technology, surface nanocrystallization ( SNC) induced by severe plastic deformation ( SPD) has been spotlighted in recent years. The SNC technique can not only prepare ideal samples for the investigation of deformation-induced grain refinement process and the structure-property relationship in a wide region from nanometers to micrometers, but also apply excellent traits of nanocrystalline materials in metals to significantly enhance the properties of the metallic materials, therefore it is expected to achieve practical application in industry. The SNC technique (including the SNC principle, synthesizing methods, structure, property) will be presented and the problems and investigation prospects are generalized finally.
