Surface chemistry and corrosion protection

Main research achievements

I have been focusing on the study of corrosion of various alloys and biomass-based corrosion protection strategies, by using advanced electrochemical methods, state-of-the-art microscopic and spectroscopic techniques, and world-class synchrotron techniques. Many of my research projects have been developed based on the needs of industry. In recent years, I have expanded my research to the development of self-powered intelligent surfaces for corrosion monitoring and blue energy harvesting – based on the triboelectric nanogenerator technology. I have published 40+ peer-reviewed journal papers, first/ corresponding author of 18. 15 invited seminars. 3 international patents and 1 joint-venture has been established in Guangdong of China to commercialise the patented research results of smart surface coating.
