Area

Professor Lu has more than 30 years of experience in the area of laser-based micro/nanoscale material processing and characterization and is a leading researcher in laser micro-processing and nanofabrication. His work encompasses a few important topics, including laser additive and subtractive 3D micro/nanofabrication, multifunctional two-photon polymerization, nanoscale processing and characterization using laser-assisted scanning probe lithography, laser imprinting of photonic band gap crystals, lase-assisted growth and integration of carbon nanotubes, laser-assisted deposition of diamond-like carbon, diamond, carbon nitride and Gallium nitride thin films, multi-energy material synthesis, laser direct writing of graphene patterns and subwavelength structures, microstructure and corrosion resistance improvement of alloys by Laser shock peening, laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy, analyses of trace materials by laser-assisted open-air mass spectroscopy, nonlinear Optics on 2D Layered Structures, multifunctional CARS (Coherent Anti-Stokes Raman Spectroscopy) imaging, and behaviors of nanoparticles under laser irradiation.
